TEACHERS' LEVEL OF PREPAREDNESS AND ATTITUDE TOWARDS INCLUSIVE CLASSROOM IN LAGOS MAINLAND, LAGOS STATE
Abstract
The study examined teachers' qualification/preparedness towards assessment of learners with special needs. Descriptive survey research design was successfully adopted. Sample size includes 150 teachers randomly selected from seven schools in Lagos Mainland Local Government Area, Lagos State was employed using simple random sampling technique. Descriptive statistics (frequency tables, percentages, mean and standard deviation) was used for the research questions while inferential statistics (Analysis of Variance) was used for testing the hypotheses. Finding revealed that there is no significant effect of teachers' attitude to level of preparedness towards assessment of learners with special needs (p=0.000; p<0.05). The study concluded that teachers in selected schools have sufficient training to meet the needs of learners with special needs within their inclusive classrooms. It was recommended that every teacher irrespective of their area of specialization should train to meet the needs of learners with special needs in inclusive classrooms.
